      Recruitment is the process of identifying, screening, shortlisting and hiring of the potential human resources for the purpose of filling up the position within the organization. recruitment is the process of selecting the right person, for the right position at the right time.

      Selection is the process of choosing the right candidate, who is most suitable for the job. It is the process of interviewing the candidates and evaluating their qualities, which are necessary for a specific job.

      Employee Selection is the process of interviewing and evaluating the candidates for a specific job and selecting an individual for employment based on certain criteria (qualifications, skills and Experience). Employee selection can range from a very simple process to a very complicated process depending on the firm hiring and the position

      Selection is the process of picking individuals with required qualifications and competence to fill jobs in the organization. Selection is defined as “process of differentiating between applicants in order to identify those with a greater likelihood of success in a job. (Kesavan R. et al.,2004)



     According to the above theories selecting a right person is very difficult. Employment test are conducted by some organization before selection.

TYPES OF TESTS

        I.            Performance tests

     II.            Aptitude tests     

  III.            Intelligent test

  IV.            Dexterity test (to find out the applicant’s cleverness to work with his hand and body)

    V.            Personality test.  

RECRUITMENT AND SELECTION IN GLOBAL CONTEXT

      Most of Japanese companies used to hiring person to fill their vacancies as a selection method. A number of companies were also hiring some university graduates as contract employees (Toyo Keizai, 2008). Some of the first companies to introduce this were the airline companies when hiring cabin attendants. The railway companies and travel agencies which were also popular companies among university students were also using this kind of contract employment

RECRUITMENT AND SELECTION METHODS IN ABC BANK

      ABC   a state owned commercial bank is having about eight thousand employees. According to the organization manpower planning employee recruitment is taken place from within the organization and outside the organization. When the recruitment is taken place from outsiders, vacancies are published through printed media and electronic media. Aptitude tests, intelligence test and interviewing methods are followed as selecting methods by the ABC bank to select the right person to the organization.

CONCLUSION

     Finding qualified applicants from outside the organization is the most difficult part of recruitment. The success of an expanding company or one with many positions demanding specialized skills often depends on the effectiveness of the organization’s recruitment program. The methods followed by the ABC bank to select the right person to the organization was caused to increase the productivity of the organization.
