WHAT IS THE ORGANIZATION CULTURE
WHAT IS THE ORGANIZATIONAL CULTURE?
Every organization has their own culture. Various types of factors are caused to create a culture in an organization. Organizational culture directly influences the behaviors of employees within an organization. According to Ravasi & Schultz, (2006). Organizational culture is a set of shared assumptions that guide what happens in organizations by defining appropriate behavior for various situations.
Culture also includes the organization’s vision, values, norms, systems, symbols, language, assumptions, beliefs, and habits (Needle, 2004). organizational culture was defined as “the way things are done around here” (Deal & Kennedy, 2000).
. Culture is based on organization’s expectations, experiences, shared attitudes, beliefs, customs, and written and unwritten rules that have been developed over time and are considered valid (The Business Dictionary).
Organizational or corporate culture is the pattern of values, norms, beliefs, attitudes and assumptions that may not have been articulated but shape the ways in which people behave and things get done. Values refer to what is believed to be important about how people and the organizations behave. Norms are the unwritten rules of behavior. The organizational culture is concerned with abstractions such as values and norms which distribute the whole or part of an organization.(Amstrong, 2006)
