IMPORTANCE OF TEAM WORK 


 

     Teamwork is generally described as the willingness of a group of people to work together to achieve a common goal. Teamwork is absolutely fundamental for teams to work together. It is only when the abilities of individual team members are collaborated together. Team work gives more benefits to the organization. So, teamwork can also be defined when the strengths, skills and abilities of individuals are combined together forms a team and it when directed in a particular direction to produce a meaningful result reveals the teamwork.

     Team can be defined as a group of individuals who work collectively to achieve the same purposes and goals to provide an excellent quality of services. Teamwork has the ability to enable the members of the team to have a higher level of emotional security, self-confidence and the ability to plan and decide with others positively. Also, it helps in creating a favorable work environment with workable system, creative activities, positive strategies and values.

     The presence of teamwork concept is a necessary rule to help the employees in working together towards common aims and goals creatively. The work performance of the team is higher than individual performance when the work requires a broad knowledge, judgement and opinion. The advantage of teamwork is significant productivity growth in the spheres that require creative solving of different tasks, a high degree of adaptability and operational management (Vašková, 2007). Cohen (1999) says that teams are replacing individuals as the basic building blocks of organization 



TEAM WORK IN GLOBAL CONTEXT

     The primary objective of group work which was introduced in such methods as quality control circles, zero defect system, self-managing groups and small group activities in 1960s and 1970s caused to improve quality of products in Japanese companies. However, these practices of Japanese firms laid down the promoting conditions for team working under new technology after 1980s. Team working is now considered as a natural way of getting things done in Japanese factories. The Japanese work organization could be recognized as team working.

     The first characteristic is one team, one task style which accompanied with the concept of groups as a special feature in Japanese style of management.

TEAM WORK IN ABC BANK

     ABC is a state owned commercial bank. The employees in ABC bank working as a team results in increase in quality and quantity outputs. Beginning of every year branches of ABC bank are given targets should be achieved by the managers and their staffs. Then manager and staffs are working as a team to achieve their targets. Working as a team followings benefits have been obtained by the ABC bank.

·         Everyone has unique qualities

·         Increase employee satisfaction.

CONCLUSION

     Teamwork is important in an organization because it provides employees with an opportunity to bond with one another which improves relation among them. Working as a team work efficacy, learning opportunity, problem solving, employee satisfaction has been developed among the group.  A team becomes more than just a collection of people when a strong sense of mutual commitment synergy, generating performance greater than the performance of its individual members.
